The Snack That Could Add Years to Your Life

Want to live longer? Grab a handful of nuts. According to a recent review of studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine, people who ate seven or more ounces of nuts per week were 20 percent less likely to die from any other cause than those who didn’t eat nuts over a 30-year period. And people who ate just 5 to 6 ounces of nuts per week were 29 percent less likely to die of a heart attack, 11 percent less likely to die from cancer, 16 percent less likely to die from diabetes and 39 percent less likely to die from kidney disease compared to those who didn’t eat nut during the same time period.
